Holiday parks in France close to a city
Location, location, location – it’s not just important when you’re buying property, it can make a real difference to your holiday too.
Camping near Montpellier
Take our Lac des Rêves holiday village in Languedoc: its breathtaking natural setting in an area laced with lovely lakes means you’ll find it hard to leave the campsite. But if you do, it’s just 9 miles to the cosmopolitan city of Montpellier, capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Most of the attractions in Montpellier are in walking distance. Don’t miss the graceful central square Place du Comédie where you can sip an al fresco coffee while the kids tuck into ice-cream and watch the street performers.
Many of our other holiday parks are close to interesting places so you can enjoy the best of both worlds – relaxation on the campsite and sightseeing in the city.
Castles and Gardens in Nantes
Our campsites at Les Pierres Couchées in southern Brittany and Le Bois Masson and Le Bois Dormant in Vendée are all a short drive from Nantes, at the mouth of the Loire river. The city has 15 museums – including the last castle on the Loire before it reaches the sea: the awe-inspiring Dukes of Brittany château, which has multimedia exhibits that bring local history to life. Or you can stretch your legs in the gorgeous botanical gardens, where the kids will find a petting zoo.
Further along the Loire, our Domaine de Dugny campsite lies near the lively university town of Tours, with a stunning Gothic cathedral you can admire before taking a stroll along the river.
Caravan holidays near La Rochelle
Bonne Anse Plage, La Pignade and Les Charmettes campsites in Charente-Maritime are all near the delightful town of La Rochelle, a sparkling coastal city of about 75,000 people. At its heart there’s the Old Harbour, with historic sea walls and towers your children will love scrambling over. La Rochelle also has one of the biggest – and best – aquariums in France.
Holidays near Beautiful Bordeaux
La Réserve holiday village in Aquitaine is 55 miles from Bordeaux, a city so lovely most of it is a UNESCO World Heritage site! Kids will love the skatepark, the Miroir d'Eau (the world’s biggest reflecting pool) and the riverside sports facilities – and it’s one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world if you want to rest your feet.
Caravan parks near Lyon
Our newest holiday park Les Rives de Condrieu in the Rhône Alpes is just 26 miles from Lyon, often described as a mini (more manageable) version of Paris. It’s a gastronomic hub so walking its winding cobbled streets will help you work off the cakes and coffees!
Camping close to Nice
Le Montourey campsite on the Côte d’Azur is a short drive (39 miles) from Nice, with its colourful markets, fine restaurants and old world glamour. It also caters for kids: the elegant Nice Opera has musical matinees for families every Sunday.
And if you’re staying at Les Sables du Midi campsite in Languedoc, don’t miss the chance to see a sea-jousting tournament at Beziers!
